‘ideal internet’ is a collection of digital plunderphonic improvisations meant to explore the headspaces of hypothetical internet users who grew up using the internet and choose to keep using it. exclusively sourced from samples curated by picking a trending video then clicking the next related video hundreds of times, the album is able to create an internet soundscape fit for gen z: full of flashy intro jingles, obnoxious greetings, clipped music—junk food in the form of content. when you listen to these collages, try and imagine what type of person watches these videos being sampled. how much do you find yourself relating to each track? another thing i would like to note is the flurry of microsound that bookends the release. this was one of the main concepts i wanted to explore going into the album: the idea that the content provided to us via the algorithm shapes us, then we shape the algorithm. it’s a cycle.
